Main Event Information

DownStream is an organization dedicated to revealing the benefits of fly fishing for those with Down Syndrome. For those of us who fly fish we know the benefits. For many of us the mental and physical demands create sanity and keep us sharp. For those of you who have not tried fly fishing, now is the time.

We are committed to hosting a one-day event were 25 people with Down Syndrome join us on a private, 40 acre ranch. The ponds on site are loaded full of beautiful and hungry rainbow trout. We guarantee every student will catch a fish. That's not all, we have 4 other stations that each student rotates through.

They will learn how to tie a fly, paint a fish picture, learn to cast and see what fish eat. In addition, our talented force of volunteers will pass along lessons of conservation. We pride ourselves on a free, quality day that will not be forgotten. We provide a wonderful lunch and tee-shirts for everyone. This is our 4th year and some students will have been with us since the beginning.

We work with nearly a dozen fly fishing clubs in the Sacramento area and a few key sponsors to make this the best event of its kind.

This event is open to all who register before hand, so make sure you do so. This year is full, however we are taking applicants for next year.
